Companions in unexpected places

Janet SzliskeJanet Szliske’s first oil painting exhibition, Companions in unexpected places, features animal companions set in places she has travelled.

Janet took up oil painting at 312 Main a year and a half ago, following her retirement from the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Initially, she had fallen in love with clay in the 80s, taking classes at the Shadbolt Centre. For many years Janet shared a ceramic studio at 1000 Parker Street. She was a founding member of West Coast Clay Sculptors’ Association and editor of its publication Earth, Form and Fire.

Her first oil painting exhibition focuses on animals and nature, two of her favourite things. The critters featured include pets from her own family and those of friends.

Hopefully these images are a balm in these difficult times.

The artist hopes that you enjoy the exhibition and that it brings good memories of your own pets and favourite places.
